When Sea-doo started developing this watercraft back in 2005 they gave it the code name of ‘CAFE’ standing for Clean, Affodable, Fun, Easy to Operate. – and that’s what it is.
Clean and simple with super low emissions, this ski packs quite a punch with it’s new 900cc ACE power plant. This engine was originally developed by BRP for the SKI-DOO range of snow mobiles. The tiny light weight engine will be available in two versions. A 60HP and 90HP. This motor is small, light and is said to have tons of torque.
Rotax 900 ACE3 – This is the most fuel-efficient engine on the market. It allows the Sea-Doo Spark to reach a top speed of 40mph and uses just 1.94 gallons5 of fuel per hour. Rotax 900 HO ACE – A more powerful engine with better acceleration. It can reach close to 50 mph yet still only uses up to 2.4 gallons of fuel per hour
The hull is based on Sea-doo’s HX from the 90’s, making it super nimble and a heap of fun to ride. It’s a little bit wider and longer making it a lot more stable than the old HX which was known to be a little hard to ride for novices.
Weighing at 180kg (that is pretty much half the weight of any other current model watercraft) for the 2 up configuration and 195 for 3up configuration, with such a little weight this little beast should have a good power to weight ratio.
The spark comes from the BRP factory in five colours, and options of a 2up or 3up configuration, 3up is achieved by adding a rear modular hull extension. Sea-doo are manufacturing a range of 20 options of graphic kits, with 3 different levels of wrapping enabling you to personalize your Sea-Doo Spark even more making sure your Spark stands out from the crowd.
Along with the graphic kits Sea-doo are also releasing a lot of accessories, think of it as a base ski and you tick the boxes on what you would like on it.
Pricing has been announced at NZ$9,499 for a base model spark, and NZ$10,999 for a High Output 3 up model, this ski will open up a whole new market.
At this pricing we are sure this will invite a lot of people that have never been able to afford a PWC to get out on the water.
