Canterbury Jet Sports Club kicked off their first round of summer racing at Lake Roto Kohatu, Christchurch. Numbers were down a little over what was expected for the first round of the season, but this gave it a relaxed feeling which is always nice for the start of the season.

It was great to see some older ski’s competing on the water, Kris Mackie on his freshly built Sea-doo HX and Yamaha Blaster, Simon Wheeler swapping and changing between his Kawasaki 15f and Yamaha blaster showing that he was out for the fun aspect of the sport, high-light for me for the day was Kris swapping to his Yamaha Baster to compete against Wheeler on his Blasters for the final race of the day, rumor has it we could even see some more Blasters joining for the next round, fingers crossed.

Pole Ski number were right down compared to the normal turn out, but being a very busy time of the year and everything that is still going on in Christurchurch it isn’t a surprise. But all in all some super competitive, close racing with Glen Chrisholm just holding off Darrell Dermont, and Marshel Brown only a couple of points behind in third.
