With pretty much no jetski events held in the North Island this winter it has increased hype and activity around the Hamilton Bridge to Bridge race. For those that don’t know the Bridge to Bridge started life in 1984 as a waterski race from Hamilton to Ngaruawahia and back. In the last few years they have opened up a class for us jet skiers.
With a race distance of 20.1km each way (40.2km return) putting man against machine making reliability a huge factor and as you guessed speed is a very important part of the race.
The rumour is this year there will be over five personal watercrafts capable of running at over 90MPH (145KMPH) in the open class, but don’t forget the ever popular stock and N/A classes (Naturally Aspirated).
This year NZJetski will be there with camera in hand to snap some action
