The Yamaha Rollo’s Marine ‘Bridge to Bridge’ Water Ski Classic was back for its 30th running year. The Bridge to Bridge started life as a Water Ski Race but over the years has altered to a Water Ski, Boat, Thunder Cat and Jetski Race.
This year the jet ski numbers were down with only a dozen skis turning up on the morning but this didn’t stop the competitors competing on the river for line honors. The favorite Mark Rosco on his Yama-Doo (Sea-doo powered Yamaha GPR) who has also won the two previous years and still holds the overall record suffered from mechanical issues 800 meters into the down stream league giving way to Paul Way on a 2013 Sea-doo RXP-X to take the win in the open class closely followed by Brenton Porter on a Kawasaki Ultra 300x. John Wright was second overall but first in stock (unmodified) class on a 2010 Sea-doo RXP-X held off Grant Wilson on a 2008 Sea-doo RXP-X who took out 2nd in stock..
All in all it was a great day with plenty of on water action between the skis, boats and water-skiers. You couldn’t of asked for better weather, be great to see some better numbers next year, I know I’ll be back next year to try and better my second place.
