Accommodation.
There are several aspects of accommodation in Kinloch, so for those of you whom wish to stay out there in this amazing little hamlet, give Julie Schierning a ring on 07 377 4841 and she can advise you what’s available.
Taupo city is only a 20 min drive from Kinloch, with many options available there.
Ramp Lunching
The informal ramp we are using, is an unsealed ramp, but you need 4×4 as it is pebbles, or just trolleys. (Grass Reserve either side of track)
There is a Huge amount of parking on the grass reserve area, All Respect and Care for this Reserve is to be taken at all times!!
As with Taupo’s boat ramp permit scenario, the marina ramp is $20 a day, John is trying to source a better deal for those whom require this option.
Fuel
Fuel is available there BP 98 and Diesel on C/Card or eftpos only, NO CASH as it is unmanned.
Food
They have booked a Hot Food Truck for the site as well as a Coffee Vendor.
There is a Store, pies and takeaways etc, and beers etc,
Crouton Cafe on road in, good food and nice breakfasts, lunches etc
Tipsy Trout next to Fire Station, and Ramps, Food all day and a garden bar.
Venue Directions
From the North to Kinloch
Follow State Highway 1, south through Tokoroa. Past the Atiamuri turnoff , then past Orakei Korako turnoff. 4.6 km further on turn right into Oruanui Road (approx. 500m past the crest of a left hand bend). The sign is marked “Kinloch”.
3.8km along Oruanui Road, turn right into Tuhingamata Road. At the end of this road (3.7km) turn left into Poihipi Road. .9km downhill, turn right into Whangamata Road. Follow the road (about 6 km) until you see the big sign on the left “Kinloch”. Turn left.
From the South to Kinloch
From Taupo township drive north to the top of the first hill. Turn left into Poihipi Road. Travel 12 km and turn left into Whangamata Road. Follow the road (about 6 km) until you see the big sign on the left “Kinloch”. Turn left.
From the Kinloch turn-off to the Venue
Follow this road down, through the roundabout, and continue straight ahead. Continue on this road (Marina Terrace) until you see the lake.
The Ramp is there and we turn to the left just past the house onto the foreshore reserve.
