A week of rain prior to the first round of the North Island Winter Series didn’t stop the hardy competitors from turning up to race at Foxton Beach on the 13th of July 2013. Unfortunitly the rain created a problem not really know to jetski racers…. too much water!
With the flood-gates having to be opened further up the Manawatu River, the river was running at full complicity. Along with the amazing swift current there was also alsorts of debris swiftly moving down the river, including tree trunks the size of cars meaning it was just to dangerous to run the event from the normal river location.
With this in mind the organise of the event (Wellington Jet Sports Club) announced that rather than running in the river the competitors would run off the beach with a rolling start and battle it out on a triangular circuit for the one and a half hours.
